10 Day First Class Tour

September through May 

Day 1: Depart USA
We depart the USA today for an overnight flight to the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires.  Sit back, relax and enjoy the service while in flight. 

Day 2: Arrive in Buenos Aires
Upon our arrival in Buenos Aires our tour escort will meet our group and help assist with our transfer to our hotel.  En route to our hotel we will enjoy an orientation tour of Buenos Aires known as the “Paris of South America” with its wide boulevards and outdoor cafes.  The remainder of our day will be free for our leisure.

Day 3: Tour Buenos Aires
After breakfast we will enjoy a full day tour of Buenos Aires to include the Plaza de Mayo Square, the Government House, the Cabildo, the Metropolitan Cathedral, Mayo Avenue, the Congress Palace, the Colón Theatre, La Boca neighborhood, Palermo, the Planetarium and La Recoleta with its famous cemetery.  This evening we will arrange to have dinner and conversation with a public official.

Day 4: Fiesta Gaucha Touring
This morning we travel to an estancia, a typical Argentinian ranch.  An Argentinian Ranch is an ideal place to appreciate the Argentine gaucho skills in cattle breeding and horseback riding. This tour will also enjoy the typical Argentinean barbecue, the “asado": cow ribs placed on an iron grid and grilled on wood embers.   This evening we will return to Buenos Aires and enjoy a special dinner & Tango Program show in a traditional “tangueria”. After a delicious dinner, the best singers and dancers will perform a memorable show with the music, liric and dance of Tango, an authentic symbol of Buenos Aires city.

Day 5: City of Colonia De Sacramento
After breakfast we travel by catamaran to Uruguay and the World Heritage city of Colonia de Sacramento.  We enjoy a guided tour of Colonia de Sacramento which was founded by Portuguese settlers from Brazil in 1680.  This town held a strategic position as a smuggling outpost for transporting British goods across the Rio de la Plata into the Spanish colonies throughout the 17^th century.  Today its charm lies in its narrow streets and colonial buildings.   We will return to Buenos Aires this afternoon for some free time before enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 6: Tigre and Buenos Aires Free Time
This morning we visit the nearby city of Tigre which sits on an island at the confluence of several rivers and channels.  Today, take a boat there to visit the stunning San Isidro Cathedral.  We return to Buenos Aires and enjoy a visit to La Boca.  La Boca is a heavily toured district that fascinates visitors with its bright yellow, red and blue houses.  We’ll finish our day with time to enjoy shopping in the Recoleta district.

Day 7: Fly to Santiago
This morning, tour Puerto Varas, visiting Philippi Hill for a view of the city. En route to Puerto Montt, stop at Calvario Hill for another panoramic view. Visit picturesque Angelmó Cove, with its market that offers a wide range of fish, seafood and crafts. Fly this afternoon to Santiago, Chile.

Day 8: Santiago – City Tour
Santiago, in its beautiful setting in the Andes, is a delight of sidewalk cafes, flower-filled parks and a well-preserved historic quarter. Your city tour includes such highlights as the city’s colonial cathedrals and historic Plaza de Armas, the wrought iron Mercado Central and hillside neighborhoods with 17th-century estates and world-class museums. Continue to the park at the top of San Cristobal Hill. (B)

Day 9: Valparaiso & Viña Del Mar
We start our journey in the morning, through the valleys of Curacaví and Casablanca, we arrive to the port of Valparaíso, a tourist attraction that cannot be missed. This city was declared world heritage thanks to the picturesque architecture of its 44 hills, and their characteristic elevators, 15 of them still working. We first visit the National Congress and then go up the Bellavista hill to see "La Sebastiana", a beautiful house that belonged to the poet Pablo Neruda, our Nobel Prize winner (1971).   We then move on to the Sotomayor Square, to see the Building of the National Navy (declared a National Monument) and the Monument for the Heroes of Iquique (Pacific War 1879-1883).  Next we visti Concepción hill and stroll along the Atkinson and Gervasoni Walks, for a spectacular view of the port. Afterwards, we visit the Yugoeslavian Walk and the Baburizza Palace before we continue towards the Inmigrations Building (National Monument) and take the Artillería Elevator to visit the famous 21 de Mayo observatory, where each year hundreds of visitors gather to see the fantastic fireworks that the port launches to welcome the New Year. We then border the coast on our way to Viña del Mar, also known as the City of Gardens, to have lunch in one of its many restaurants. You will have a chance to visit the Flower Clock, the Viña del Mar Casino, the Seaside Walk, and Reñaca Beach before returning to Santiago for our dinner and overnight.

Day 10:  Return to USA
We depart Santiago for our return flight to the USA.
