During the summer, temperatures in Alaska can reach up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, with average temperatures falling in the 50 to 60 range. If you want to take an Alaska cruise trip but you’re worried about the cold, summer is the best time to go. July and August in particular are the warmest months, but that also means Alaskan cruises are more crowded. For a good mix of weather and light crowds, book your cruise during May or September when the seasons are about to change.

There are some things to consider when it comes to the dress code on Alaska cruise trips. While the dress code isn’t as strict as it is on our Turkey tours and Israel tours, you’re expected to abide by somewhat of a dress code because you’re on a cruise with thousands of people. You can pretty much wear what you want during the day, but you may want to dress a bit less casually during the evenings. There are also formal nights that have special dress codes, so there may be a few occasions where you need to dress up during your cruise.

The great news about taking an Alaska cruise is that you don’t have to walk a whole lot. The cruise ship has everything you need to enjoy your vacation, with plenty of space to sit down and relax while you eat, drink and socialize. You do have to walk around a bit to get from one place to another, so we recommend packing a comfortable pair of shoes with plenty of padding.

If you’re planning to go on a cruise, apply for your passport now and wait a few months to book your cruise because the application process can take a while. If you’re not from the US, you may also need a B-2 visitor’s visa for your Alaska cruise.

While there are several native languages in Alaska, English is the most commonly spoken language in the state. Our Alaskan cruises may include staff who speak other languages, or you can use a translator to communicate like you might use for our Europe and Germany tours.

You can use USD during your Alaskan cruise, so make sure you exchange your currency for USD before your cruise if you’re visiting from another country. Some of our cruises also have on-board foreign currency exchange.

You’ll be using type A and B outlets throughout the cruise, so make sure you have a suitable converter. If you don’t have a converter, you can buy a universal adapter so you have an adapter that works for everything, from Iceland tours to Alaska cruises.

The time zone in Alaska is known as Alaskan Standard Time, which is 1 hour behind US Pacific Standard Time and 4 hours behind Eastern Standard Time.

Alaskan cruises may seem strange since Alaska is known for snow and cold weather, but the weather is decent if you go at the right time.
