Day 1 - Arrive in Maine
Arrive in Portland, Maine with an included transfer to your hotel. Meet your Tour Manager and fellow travelers in the hotel lobby at 6:00 p.m. for a welcome dinner. Meal: D
Day 2 - North Conway Scenic Railroad
Travel west today into New Hampshire’s White Mountains. In North Conway, board the North Conway Scenic Railroad. You will enjoy the Mt. Washington Valley countryside and relive part of railroad history when the first train traveled through this region over 135 years ago. Then, travel the Kancamagus Scenic Byway as it follows a beautiful path through the White Mountains. It is one of the world’s most spectacular fall-foliage trips and meanders through vast forests, old logging roads and Indian hunting paths. Then, return to Portland. Meals: B, L
Day 3 - Kennebunkport, Nubble Lighthouse and Boston City Tour
Travel down the coast today and make a stop at Kennebunkport, one of Maine’s coastal jewels and the summer home to many of America’s rich and famous. Then stop at Cape Neddick to see the 1879 Nubble Lighthouse. Built on a tiny, off-shore island, Nubble features a Victorian keeper’s house with gingerbread trim. In Boston, over 350 years of history await you on a sightseeing tour of the city’s historic Freedom Trail. See Boston Common, America’s oldest park, Park Street Church, founded in 1809 and the Old Corner Bookstore, home to the 19th-century publishers Ticknor and Fields. Enjoy dinner in Boston before heading to Plymouth. Meals: B, D
Day 4 - Plimoth Patuxet and Whale Watching Cruise
Begin the day at Plimoth Patuxet. This living history museum interprets the 17th-century Plymouth Colony established by the Pilgrims. Costumed inhabitants will show you colony life during the period through cooking, planting and blacksmithing. In the afternoon climb aboard your seagoing vessel for an exciting whale watching excursion. Head out to Cape Bay and Stellwagen Bank, a marine sanctuary and primary feeding grounds for humpback, finback and the endangered right whales. Be sure to dress warm to enjoy this exciting adventure on the water. Later, make a stop at Plymouth Rock, the historic site of the first landing. Meals: B, D
Day 5 - Cape Cod and Provincetown
Journey out on to New England’s famed Cape Cod today. Travel through towns such as Harwich with its miles of sandy beaches and lush cranberry bogs, Orleans with the natural beauty of its forests and the summer vacation community of Truro. Day 6 - Martha’s Vineyard
This morning, ferry to the resort island of Martha’s Vineyard, a playground for many rich and famous, including former President Clinton. The island’s coast has astounding cliffs at Aquinnah with spectacular shoreline views. Visit the villages of Edgartown and Oak Bluffs and see the gingerbread cottages. Meals: B, D
Day 7 - Newport Sightseeing and the Mansions
Entering the smallest New England state, arrive in Newport, Rhode Island. A local guide shows you this fascinating seaport. Famous not only for its maritime history and scenic ten-mile long Ocean Drive, Newport houses some fabulous summer homes built here during America’s glamorous “Gilded Age.” Visit Vanderbilt’s Breakers Mansion and the impressive Marble House to get a glimpse of how America’s most elite families lived at the turn of the century. Day 8 - Old Sturbridge Village
In the town Sturbridge, Massachusetts sits Old Sturbridge Village. The day is dedicated to this 200-acre living history museum which recreates life in rural New England during the 1790s through 1830s period. Later continue to your hotel to gather for a farewell dinner hosted by your Tour Manager. Meals: B, D
Day 9 - Travel Home
After breakfast, your group transfer brings you to Boston’s Logan Airport for flights out after 12:00 p.m. Meal: B
