DAY 1 – December 30: DEPART U.S.A.
Tour members meet at LAX International Airport for our flight to Israel. Shortly after our flight departs, dinner will be served, and then it’s time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the onboard entertainment as we head to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv for the start of our adventure of a lifetime where the Bible comes alive as we “walk in the footsteps” of Jesus and the early church in Israel!
DAY 2 – December 31: ARRIVE IN TEL AVIV - JERUSALEM
Upon arrival in Tel Aviv, we will proceed through customs and security before meeting our local agent, who will assist us in boarding our tour bus. From there, we’ll begin our journey “up to Jerusalem,” the City of the King! As we enter the Holy City, we’ll drive around ancient Jerusalem with Pastor Greg providing an overview of the city’s rich history and significance—past, present, and future. After checking into our hotel, we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner. Later that evening, Pastor Greg will lead the group on a special walking tour to the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem.
DAY 3 – January 1: UPPER ROOM, GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE, HEROD’S STEPS, CHURCH OF THE HOLY SEPULCHRE
After breakfast, we begin the day walking the footsteps of Jesus the day He gave His life on the Cross, Passover – Nisan 14. Our first stop is at the “Upper Room” atop Mt. Zion - the location of the Passover Seder (more commonly known as the “Last Supper”) where Jesus said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” And “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” We will have a Communion service together here. This is also the location that many believe fifty three days later, the Holy Spirit came upon the Church on the Day of Pentecost. Next -- just as the disciples did -- we cross the Kidron Valley between Jerusalem and the Mt. of Olives and enter the Garden of Gethsemane (an ancient olive grove), where under unspeakable duress, Jesus sweat drops of blood before being betrayed by Judas and arrested by Roman soldiers. We then make our way over to the ancient steps of Herod’s Palace in the vicinity where Jesus was beaten and sentenced to be crucified. Afterwards, we continue our walk to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre - the traditional site of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. We end the day with dinner back at our hotel. After dinner, the evening is free for you to fill with a quiet time at the hotel or to venture out on your own for an evening in Jerusalem. Pastor Greg will offer suggested locations for you to visit that are within walking distance of the hotel.
DAY 4 – January 2: CITY OF DAVID, DAVIDSON CENTER, ROBINSON’S ARCH, SOUTHERN STEPS, JEWISH QUARTER, RABBINICAL TUNNELS
Today, we begin in the heart of ancient Jerusalem, the City of David - the very city that King David conquered and where he eventually built his palace. Afterwards, we visit the Jerusalem Archeological Park to visit the ancient ruins near Robinson’s Arch and the Southern Steps near the Temple Mount area. We will sit upon the original steps that Jesus climbed as he entered the ancient Temple area. We will also visit a first century priest’s home in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City and from there walk through the Rabbi’s Tunnel near the Western Wall. Dinner and overnight are at our hotel in Jerusalem.
DAY 5 – January 3: DAVID & GOLIATH (VALLEY OF ELAH), SOUTHERN ISRAEL (IN MEMORIAL OF OCT. 7th visiting the City of Sderot) MT. ZION, MESSIANIC SEAL, DAVID’S CITADEL, JAFFA GATE
We begin our day with a drive south to the city of Sderot in Southern Israel, reflecting on the somber events of October 7th as we meet with Jewish followers of Jesus. Upon our return to Jerusalem, we’ll visit the Valley of Elah, the historic site where David defeated Goliath. Next, we’ll journey to Mt. Zion, the epicenter of the Jerusalem church, to explore the Messianic Seal discovery site. We’ll also tour David’s Citadel near Jaffa Gate and visit the traditional site of Herod’s palace—believed by many scholars to be the location where Jesus was interrogated by Herod Antipas and the Roman Governor Pilate. Our day continues with a visit to Christ Church, the oldest Protestant church building in Jerusalem. The café area offers a wonderful space to journal, relax, or enjoy a snack or drink. Additionally, there will be an option to walk the ramparts of the Old City Walls of Jerusalem for a unique perspective of the city. Dinner will be back at our hotel.
DAY 6 – January 4: CAESAREA MARITIMA, MT. CARMEL, MEGIDDO, CANA, MAGDALA, GALILEE
Today we set out from Jerusalem and travel north towards the Galilee. Our route takes us along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea to Caesarea, where Gentiles first heard the good news of the Gospel from Peter and many were baptized. We’ll see the Roman Amphitheater, Hippodrome, and other remains of this famous port city, including the famous Roman-built aqueduct. We then drive to Mt. Carmel, where Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18), and afterwards travel through the Valley of Armageddon, passing the ancient stronghold city of Meggido, eventually reaching an overlook of Nazareth where we will view the city where Gabriel announced to Mary that she had been chosen to give birth to the Son of God - fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah 7:14! We then make our way through Cana (where Jesus performed His first public miracle of turning water into wine), and arrive at Magdala (Mary Magdelene’s hometown) by the Sea of Galilee to visit a recently excavated first century synagogue which was most likely frequented by Jesus and the disciples. We will then make our way to our hotel, Nof Ginosaur which sits on the very shoreline (northwest corner) of the Sea of Galilee where Jesus spent so much time with His disciples. Dinner will be served shortly after we arrive.
DAY 7 – January 5: ANCIENT BOAT MUSEUM, BOAT RIDE ON THE SEA OF GALILEE, CAPERNAUM, MT. OF BEATITUDES, JORDAN RIVER & BAPTISM
This morning, we visit the Ancient Boat Museum to see a boat that was discovered in the mud on the shore of the Sea of Galilee that dates back to the time of Jesus. We will board a replica wooden boat called the, “Jesus Boat” , and set sail out onto the Sea of Galilee to the ancient City of Capernaum the home base for Jesus’ early ministry. Then, we will travel up to the Mt. of Beatitudes which overlooks the Sea of Galilee, and is the traditional site where Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). We end the day along the Jordan River, with an option to be baptized there. Dinner and overnight are back at Nof Ginosar.
DAY 8 – January 6: BEIT SHEAN, JUDEAN WILDERNESS, QUMRAN, MT. OF OLIVES, GARDEN TOMB
This morning, we depart the Galilee and travel southward to Beit She’an/Scythopolis, an archeological site in Israel, located at the strategic juncture of the Jezreel and Jordan valleys. Like Jericho, it has been almost continuously occupied throughout history. It is also the location that the Philistines hung the bodies of Saul and his son Jonathan after defeating them on Mt. Gilboa. During the time of Jesus, Scythopolis was one of the chief cities of the Decapolis - a league of ten cities sharing Greek culture and government. Next, we travel down the fertile Jordan Valley southward, where our guide will point out the incredible agricultural restoration of the, “Land of Milk and Honey” as well as Israel’s intricate modern irrigation system. As our journey down the valley continues we arrive in Qumran to learn of the Dead Sea Scroll discovery before making our way northwest through the mountains of the Judean wilderness, arriving in Jerusalem. Before arriving we will take part in the Genesis Land Meal in Abraham's Tent, where we enjoy a trip back in time: a reliving of life in the time of the Patriarchs, complete with costume, dramatic presentation, camel ride and authentic food. After arriving in Jerusalem, we will stop and take in a panoramic view of the city while standing atop the Mount of Olives - where Jesus ascended into heaven and where He will return as the triumphant King of Kings! We end our day with a visit to The Garden Tomb. Dinner and overnight will be at the Prima Royale Hotel in Jerusalem (the same hotel where we stayed at the beginning of our tour).
DAY 9 – January 7: DAY AT LEISURE, FAREWELL DINNER, BEN GURION AIRPORT
Today you are free to experience the sights and sounds of Jerusalem on your own. It is a day to enjoy the greatest city in the world! Enjoy a site not seen, sit in a local café and watch Jerusalem go by, or simply rest in preparation for the trip home. Some of Pastor Greg’s recommendations are to take a visit to one of the following: Yad Vashem(Israel’s Holocaust Memorial), Mt. Herzel (Israel’s National Cemetery), Friends of Israel Museum, Israeli Museum/Shrine of the Book, Mamilla Mall or enjoy walking back into the Old City! Dinner will be served at our hotel. After a late check-out following dinner, we depart Jerusalem and head to the airport for our overnight flight home.
