Tuesday, May 6
Beginning very early in the morning our travels take us to Oban to board a ferry/long distance coaches ultimately arriving in our destination, Iona. Our visit to Iona will include a walking tour.
Overnight in nearby Oban (dinner at the hotel)
Wednesday, May 7
This morning we depart Oban and travel east towards our next destination, Edinburgh. Prior to arriving the group will enjoy lunch in Stirling. This afternoon our travels continue on to St. Andrews for a visit to the Cathedral ruins and St. Andrews pro shop. Our overnight will be in Edinburgh. (dinner at the hotel)
Thursday, May 8
This morning, our arrival into Edinburgh which will take us to the historic sites of the Edinburgh Castle. We also visit St. Giles Cathedral to which Knox was appointed minister of the church and listen to the guide’s testimony of Knox’s great personal sacrifice and the contribution of his powerful sermons we will enjoy a drive to the south where we will visit Bamburg Castle. This afternoon we will travel to Lindesfarne for some free time. Our Overnight in Berwick upon Tweed (dinner at the hotel) Guide in Edinburgh
Friday, May 9
After breakfast, we will depart Berwick upon Tweed, and we will travel to Durham where we’ll enjoy a tour of the Durham Cathedral and remains of St. Cuthbert and Bede. The Cathedral is one of the finest examples of Norman architecture. This afternoon our travels take us south to York for a view of the York Minster (closed by the time arrive)
Our overnight is in York (dinner is on your own)
Saturday, May 10
After our tour of York Minster this morning, we will transfer to Epworth. This is the birthplace of John and Charles Wesley. Our visits will include-The Old Rectory (Wesley’s birthplace) and a tour of St. Andrew’s Church. Our overnight will be in Stratford-Upon-Avon (dinner at the hotel)
Sunday, May 11
After breakfast , we travel to Coventry Cathedral where we will attend a Eucharist, directly following, we will get a tour of the Cathedral. Next, our tour continues onto Stratford which includes visits to the beautiful buildings connected with William Shakespeare and his family. We'll visit Anne Hathaway's impeccably preserved thatched cottage and gardens and Shakespeare's birthplace. This afternoon we enjoy an orientation tour of Coventry. Our overnight will be in Bristol (dinner is on your own) Guide in Stratford upon Avon
Monday, May 12
This morning we enjoy a morning tour of Bristol with a visit to John Wesley’s New Room, and Charles Wesley’s House. Next we visit Hanham Mount which is where John Wesley preached his first outdoor sermon. This afternoon we travel to Glastonbury and visit Glastonbury Abbey which could be the oldest church in England and possibly the burial place of King Arthur. After our visit to Wells Cathedral for Evensong, we will have the opportunity to view the Cheddar Gorge. Our overnight will be in Bristol (dinner is on your own)
Tuesday, May 13
We depart Bristol this morning and head towards Salisbury. Our first stop is at Salisbury for a visit to the famous cathedral. The builders of the gothic church claimed it to be "so great a church to the glory of God that those who come after us will think us mad even to have attempted it." Once again, we are on our way to yet another wondrous sight, the Neolithic monument of Stonehenge which dates to around 2800 BC. Our adventures take us to Oxford. Tonight, we have a free evening in Oxford. Our overnight will be in Oxford (dinner at the hotel)
Wednesday, May 14 (Coach Service Ends at the end of the day in London)
Our morning begins with a view of Lincoln College. Lincoln College unfortunately isn’t open to the public. Next, our tour continues with a tour Christ Church (Wesley Emphasis) Our Lunch will be on our own in Oxford. This afternoon our tour departs for London and will have a visit to one of the city’s most beautiful churches, Westminster Abbey. Our overnight will be in London (dinner is on your own) Guide in Oxford; Guide in Westminster Abbey.
Thursday, May 15
We will begin our day with walking tour of Trafalgar Square (arrive via tube) walk to Palace of Westminster, next we will take the tube to St. Paul’s Cathedral, St. Bartholomew the Great, Postman’s Park, Wesley’s Plinth, Bunhill Fields, Wesley’s Chapel & Foundry.
*Passengers will need to get a day pass for “the Tube” Our overnight is in London (dinner is on your own)
Friday, May 16
Today we have a free day in London to explore. Upon our return to our hotel in London we will enjoy a farewell dinner and overnight.
Saturday, May 17
This morning is spent with a drive to Windsor Castle, majestically standing on a chalk cliff and dominating the skyline with its rugged walls and Round Tower. William the Conqueror built both the castle and Tower of London in 1078 as fortresses guarding against attacks from the Thames River. Windsor has been a royal residence since 1110 when Henry I made it his home
