Price Includes: All motor coach and land transportation, sightseeing, admissions, services of tour director and driver, lodging, meals as specified in tour itinerary, taxes, gratuities to bellhops and waiters at included meals.
Airport transfers are included only when airfare is purchased from Pilgrim Tours. Taxi service is available for those purchasing their airfare elsewhere.
Deposit Required: $300 per person will reserve your place. A $100 service fee will be charged for cancellation at any time in addition to our normal payment and cancellation policy.
Day 1: San Francisco
We depart on our morning flight to San Francisco. Upon our early afternoon arrival, we transfer to our lodging for the next three nights in the City by the Bay. The remainder of the day is free to explore the sights in the area. Dinner tonight is served at the hotel.
Day 2: Sausalito
Our day begins with a guided tour of San Francisco to include sights such as the Opera House, Old Mission Delores, and Golden Gate Park. Stop for lunch and free time in the Mediterranean-like village of Sausalito. Return to the hotel, and take a ride on their famous cable cars for a real taste of the city.
Day 3: Napa Valley
Our guide joins us for more sightseeing in the surrounding areas of Oakland and Berkley. Then travel north through the Napa Valley, known for their views of the beautiful scenic countryside. In Sonoma we visit a cheese factory and have free time to browse local shops. Return to San Francisco and board a ferry to visit Alcatraz Island for a tour of the former prison. We return to Pier 39, a waterfront shopping and dining complex on the Embarcadero. Enjoy dinner on your own in one of their many fine restaurants.
Day 4: Monterey
Head south today arriving later this morning in the fishing village of Monterey. The fish canneries made famous in John Steinbeck's "Cannery Row" have been replaced by shops and galleries. There's time for lunch at their Fisherman's Wharf before continuing south near Carmel where we travel along "17 Mile Drive" with scenic areas called Seal Rock and Lone Cypress. There will be opportunities to photograph the rocky coastline. We also pass the world famous Pebble Beach Golf Course. This afternoon we stop at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park to view the giant Redwoods, then continue south on Highway 1 with its fascinating coastal scenery. Our lodging for tonight is in San Simeon with dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 5: Hearst Castle
Our day begins at the National Geographic Theatre to view the history of the magnificent Hearst Castle, considered by many to be the most beautiful home in America, built for millionaire newspaper publisher, William Randolf Hearst. After the film we tour the Castle. This afternoon, stop in the lovely Danish Village of Solvang with free time to explore their shops before checking into our lodging.
Day 6: Los Angeles
This morning we travel to Los Angeles where a local guide leads us on a scenic tour of downtown and describes the sights and history with stops at The Dancing Waters and Olvera Street- the oldest street in Los Angeles. There's free time at the Farmer's Market for lunch before continuing on to Hollywood with a stop at Mann's Chinese Theatre with the famous footprints and handprints of stars in cement. Then check into our lodging for the next two nights in north Hollywood.
Day 7: Hollywood
A full day of the magic and glamour of Hollywood awaits us as we begin our day with a visit to Universal Studios. This is a real behind-the-scenes look at film-making as we tour the back lots. Here we see familiar scenery from our favorite movies and TV shows. Our day concludes at Universal Studios' Citywalk for dinner and exploring the shops and entertainment available.
Day 8: San Diego
Today we travel to San Diego where a local guide joins us for a tour of the sights and history of this lovely harbor city. This afternoon we check into our hotel for the next two nights, then enjoy dinner and free time in Seaport Village.
Day 9: San Diego Zoo
This morning we visit the world famous San Diego Zoo where your admission includes their tram ride for an overview of the zoo. This afternoon, travel to Tijuana, Mexico where we barter for bargains in leather goods, jewelry, and a wide assortment of hand-crafted items. Return to San Diego for a delicious farewell dinner.
Day 10: Home
We transfer to the San Diego Airport for our return flight home.
