Price Includes: Very nice 3 1/2 and moderate 4 star hotels, breakfast daily, 10 dinners, modern transportation, sightseeing as listed.
Not Included: Airfare, fuel charges, air taxes, travel/cancellation insurance, lunches, gratuities to driver and guides.
Deposit Required: $300 per person will reserve your place. A $100 service fee will be charged for cancellation at any time in addition to our normal payment and cancellation policy.
Day 1: Departure
Enjoy your overnight flight to Zurich with dinner en route.
Day 2: Arrive Zurich, River Cruise
This morning we arrive in Zurich and are transferred by motorcoach to our hotel. We have free time to get settled, freshen up and explore the area before enjoying a river cruise and delightful dinner. Overnight in Zurich.
Day 3: Berne, Interlaken
Berne, Switzerland's capital, is a wonderfully preserved Medieval town and one of the earliest cantons to embrace the Protestant Reformation due mainly to the influence of Zwingli. Sightseeing with a local expert starts at the popular BEAR PIT and then focuses on the monumental Federal Palace and the beautifully preserved medieval Old Town. Witness the hourly parade of painted figures at the Clock Tower and take your pictures of ornate, flower-adorned fountains. Next, we travel to Interlaken, check into our hotel and have some free time before dinner. We overnight two nights in Interlaken.
Day 4: Alpine Vistas
Today we will have a full day to explore the Lauterbrunnen Valley, regarded as one of the most spectacular glacial valleys in Europe. It lies surrounded by the un-spoilt natural beauty of the magnifi-cent Swiss Alps. In the afternoon we’ll ride the funicular railway to the picturesque resort of Murren. This is a car-free village perched atop a cliff, surrounded by the unbelievable panorama of the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau peaks. We will also enjoy a gondola ride to the famous Schiltorn Restaurant before returning to our hotel for the evening.
Day 5: Delightful Lucerne, Liechtenstien
Today we visit Lucerne for some free time today. Lucerne boasts invigorating mountain and lake views, a picturesque old quarter and famous covered bridge, making it one of Europe’s most visited and popular towns. The River Reuss splits the town, flowing rapidly out of the northwestern end of the lake. River banks on both sides are clustered with medieval squares, frescoed houses, ancient guildhalls, churches and chapels. From here we turn toward to the Kingdom of Liechtenstien for our dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Charming Village of Ischgl, Innsbruck
Austria is our destination today with our first stop at the Alpine Village of Ischgl. Then we travel to Innsbruck for lunch and our hotel. Innsbruck is nestled in a narrow valley right below lofty mountain peaks, with streets lined by historic churches and buildings. Overnight in Innsbruck.
Day 7: Austria’s Highest Peak, Salzburg
This morning we head east to visit Austria's highest peak, the Gross-glockner, where we will have an amazing lunch. Nearby, we visit the picturesque high Alpine village of Heiligenblut (which means "holy blood") before continuing on to Salzburg. Overnight in Salzburg for the next two nights.
Day 8: Musical Salzburg
Today, we will have much to see and do in Salzburg. A guide joins us sharing history and beautiful scenery as we visit the Gardens, the Fortress, the Mozart place of birth, shops and many other wonderful sights. This evening’s dinner will include Austrian Folk Dancing.
Day 9: Neuschwanstein & Linderhof Castles
In the lovely Bavarian region of Germany we find two of the Castles of Mad King Ludwig. First, we will travel to Neuschwanstein Castle for a full tour. Next we visit the King's Linderhof Castle, then to the colorful village of Garmisch-Partenkirchen with free time to stroll through the shops and relax at your hotel. Overnight in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Day 10: Historic Rothenburg, Stuttgart
A walking guided tour of the walled city of Rothenburg ob der Tauber begins our day before free time and lunch with your Tour Director. Then, we visit the big city, Stuttgart and the Mercedes Museum. Overnight in Stuttgart.
Day 11: Zurich
Today we return to Zurich and pick up our local guide who will help us enjoy spectacular views of the Alps from vistas of the ancient yet modern city. Zurich is the commercial capital of Switzerland (Berne being the seat of government). Our guided city tour will show you the commercial center, a section of the Old Town, Fraumuenster Church with its famous Chagall windows, historical Limmatquai and the university district. Drive along the Hoehenstrasse which offers spectacular views into the Alps. We will see the Weinplatz, or Corn Exchange, the oldest market square, Old City Hall and the Old City Hall Bridge. Along the way, you will be captivated by the narrow cobblestone streets, medieval houses and famous quays. Zurich is uniquely situated along the beautiful Lake Zurich which is rimmed by a 3 kilometer long promenade. We will see here the many lakeside gardens where Zurichers congregate at lunch time! Day 12: Home
This morning we transfer to the airport for our flight back home.
