Day 1: Fayetteville

We travel southward into North Carolina, check into our lodging for the evening, and then enjoy dinner at the "Cracker Barrel Old Country Store."

Day 2: Myrtle Beach

Following a continental breakfast at the hotel, we visit the Military Museum in Fayetteville dedicated to the missions and training of the Special Forces. Later this morning, we depart for Myrtle Beach where we will stay for four nights at the Hampton Inn. Dinner tonight is a bountiful buffet before our evening show, "Summer of '66," a spectacular Broadway-style musical filled with popular dances and favorite songs of the 1960's.

Day 3: Broadway At The Beach

A deluxe continental breakfast is available each morning at the hotel. This morning we are free to either go to the beach to walk on the sand or boardwalk, or to arrange for a morning of golfing. Enjoy lunch on our own and afterwards we begin our sightseeing at Ripley's Aquarium with its walk through underwater tunnels to view sharks, moray eels and a giant octopus. A freshwater tank exhibits red-bellied piranhas. Next, we have free time at the shopping and entertainment complex "Broadway At the Beach," and explore the variety of specialty shops or visit their IMAX Theatre or other attractions. This evening, after dinner at a fine Myrtle Beach restaurant, we have reserved seats for Southern Ice - featuring a cast of world-class ice skaters, champion gymnasts, and amazing jugglers - all packaged with elaborate costumes and special effects.

Day 4: Charleston

We travel south to the charming town of Charleston where we board horse-drawn carriages for a fascinating tour on cobblestone streets viewing the picturesque homes and gardens of the historic district. There's free time allowed for lunch at Charleston's historic Marketplace, one of the South's oldest open-air markets. This afternoon we drive the ¾ mile avenue of moss-draped live oaks to Boone Hall Plantation where a costumed Southern Belle leads us on a guided tour of the plantation home. We return to Myrtle Beach for dinner followed by our entertainment for the evening at the Alabama Theatre with a cast of singers and dancers.

Day 5: Carolina Opry

We begin our day with a guided tour of Georgetown, the third oldest town in South Carolina, an important colonial port established in 1729. Next, we visit the Prince George Winyah Church, built in the 1700's, which contains the original box pews and rare English stained glass. There's free time for lunch in town and to take a walk on the Harborwalk. Before returning to Myrtle Beach, we visit the Kaminski House, built in 1760 and filled with antiques. Dinner and entertainment abound at the Dixie Stampede with riding, roping and singing along with a southern meal. Our evening concludes at the original country-music show of Myrtle Beach, The Carolina Opry.

Day 6: USS North Carolina

After breakfast, we travel to nearby Wilmington, North Carolina for a self-guided tour of the USS North Carolina - one of the great battleships of World War II. After lunch on our own at the Cotton Exchange, formerly a merchant building now housing restaurants and shops, we travel to our lodging in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 7: Homeward

After breakfast at the hotel, we travel to Baltimore, Maryland, for free time at their lovely Inner Harbor and enjoy lunch, browsing or the National Aquarium before departing for home with arrival by early evening.
