Day 1: Maine Bound

Early afternoon arrivals at the Portland Jetport will be met by guide and deluxe motorcoach. We transfer to Maine's south coast where we have our first dinner along the coast. (Please indicate your entrée choice with your reservation: Beef Kabob, Grilled Chicken, Broiled Scallops). After dinner, we set sail on a special two hour Maritime Mysteries Theater Cruise to enjoy seafaring legends, ghostly haunts, New England folklore and stories of the Seven Seas. After our cruise, we travel to our hotel in Ogunquit, a typical Maine coast town.

Day 2: Southcoast Touring

Our busy day will start with a hearty continental breakfast before meeting our guide for a tour of Kennebunkport. As the summer home to the George Bush family, Kennebunkport also appeals to visitors from around the world. We'll pass by Walkers Point, fine summer homes, and sea captains' mansions. The rockbound coast, beaches, Franciscan Monastery, and the Wedding Cake House are a few highlights of our narrated tour. We have some free time to enjoy the shops and restaurants in Dock Square before we head north up the coast. This afternoon we'll visit the Maine Maritime Museum, which depicts Maine's shipbuilding industry from the 1600's to the present. Numerous hands-on exhibits, boat building demonstrations and a lobstering exhibit are here for us to see. Later we continue on to explore the village of Boothbay Harbor, known as Maine's boating capital, so be sure to have your camera ready! Relax and enjoy dinner at our waterfront hotel tonight, complete with piano entertainment. (Please indicate entrée choice with your reservation: Prime Rib, Chicken, Fish).

Day 3: Midcoast Maine

After a full breakfast at our hotel, we meet our guide today for a narrated tour of mid-coast Maine. Mid- Coast Maine has quaint, quiet, out-of-the-way villages, the spray of ocean surf crashing upon the rocks and the smell of the sea. The sights and sounds of Maine fishermen bringing in their daily catch, and the unique aroma of freshly cooked Maine lobsters are a part of daily life. See clapboard homes, barns and the kaleidoscope of colors along country lanes curving in and out of rocky valleys. We'll learn about the maritime history of the seaside villages of Boothbay, Rockland, Rockport, and Camden. We can stretch our legs on a stroll along the breakwater to the Rockland Lighthouse and take advantage of a photo stop at the summit of Mount Battie, offering a spectacular view over the rocky coast. Lunch will be on our own in Camden - the village where the mountains meet the sea. We continue north this afternoon, arriving at Mt. Desert Island, the jut of land which is the home to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. After some free time to explore the quaint shops of downtown Bar Harbor, we travel a bit further on Mt. Desert Island to our waterfront hotel in Northeast Harbor, our home for the next two nights. An authentic Maine lobster bake dinner with all the fixins' is featured tonight! (Please indicate entrée choice with reservation: New York Sirloin or 1 ¼ boiled lobster with clams & mussels).

Lunch and browsing time will be on our own in Bar Harbor before our afternoon visit to the Bar Harbor Oceanarium, including the Lobster Hatchery and Museum, and even a marsh walk.
