Choosing the best month for your North America trip depends on where you’re going. We offer North America tours throughout the continent, and the climate varies a lot from region to region. You may want to avoid the hot summer months if you’re visiting Mexico, but a summer vacation is ideal if you’re going to the Pacific Northwest. As is the case with our tours of Britain & Scotland, some people prefer to avoid the best weather in favor of smaller crowds. Figuring out the best time to visit depends on where you want to go, what kind of weather you like and what you want to do.

The dress code in North America is generally pretty relaxed, with the US and the surrounding areas dressing casually for the most part. If you’re visiting the United States, you can wear whatever feels comfortable to you without worrying about a dress code. Mexico, the Caribbean and other surrounding areas also have a relaxed dress code, so you don’t need to worry about dressing up like you might during our Jordan tours. However, there may be dress codes at certain establishments and religious sites.

You’re going to have to do some walking during your North America tour, but the amount of walking varies from tour to tour. Some of our North America vacation packages include more walking than others, so contact us to learn more if you’re concerned about the tour itinerary. No matter where you’re going, we recommend bringing a comfortable pair of cushioned shoes to protect your feet.

If you’re visiting any part of North America from an outside country, you’ll need to have your passport. US citizens will need a passport for our Mexico and Caribbean tours. As a US citizen, you don’t typically need to get a visa to visit neighboring countries. Do your research before you book your trip because requirements change from country to country. Just because you recently took one of our Costa Rica tours doesn’t mean you can travel to the US.

Most of the places you’ll visit during your North America tour will speak English. The areas that don’t primarily speak English usually speak Spanish and a little bit of English — this includes Mexico. English is also the official language of 11 independent Caribbean countries.

If you’re taking a trip to the United States, you’ll be using USD as currency. You can also use USD in Mexico, but the Mexican peso (MXN) is the official currency of Mexico. There are several different currencies in the Caribbean, but you can use currency exchange centers to make sure you always have cash on hand.

When you visit North America, you may run into type A and B outlets, so you’ll need a converter. You can also buy an all-in-one converter if you don’t want to buy separate converters for our Germany tours and your trip to North America.

You may find yourself in several time zones when visiting North America, including Pacific Standard Time, Mountain Standard Time, Central Standard Time, Eastern Standard Time, and Alaska Standard Time. These time zones are all several hours behind Europe.

North America is home to a diverse array of climates, so it all depends where you decide to visit. Mexico and the Caribbean are known for being sunny and warm, while Alaska and the northern parts of the US are colder and experience frequent snow.
