Brazil - "A Magic Land"

Day One- Departure
Today we begin our adventure with an evening departure from  Miami for Brazil, the fifth largest country in the world.   Soon you'll experience firsthand the exciting culture of Brazil.   Blending a  synthesis of European tradition and Modernism of the New World, Brazil has much to offer the international tourist. 

Day Two- Rio de Janeiro
We arrive in Rio de Janeiro in the early morning.   Take this time to relax and unwind before we embark on an afternoon, half day tour  of Sugarloaf Mountain.  We will
ascend the famous mountain via  cable car for a breathtaking panorama of skyscrapers, beaches and glistening water.   After a drive around Urca, Botafogo and Flamengo beaches, we continue with  a brief visit to the historical and modern sections of downtown Rio. 

Day Three - Corcovado Mountain
After our Brazilian Breakfast Buffet, we begin our half day tour of Corcovado.   This morning excursion will take us up the Corcovado Mountain to view the superlative Christ the Redeemer Statue.  Afterwards, several stops will be made to appreciate views in the Tijuca Forest National Park, and  Barra, Gavea, Leblon and Ipanema Beaches.  

Day Four - Colonial Rio
Today  we start off with a morning tour of "Villa Riso", the colonial Rio.  As soon as you cross the gates of Villa Riso, a plunge in the past takes place.   Lush gardens, handicraft shops, and an art gallery are all on the agenda.   Lunch, a buffet of national dishes, is included.   The afternoon and evening are at your leisure.

Day Five - Iguassu Falls
After breakfast, we catch our flight to Iguassu Falls, one of the world's greatest natural wonders.  Thirty rivers join in hundreds of waterfalls, form  a cascade over 2400 meters wide.  By afternoon we arrive at our hotel with just enough time to take a walking tour of the Brazilian Falls.   Share your reflections of the glory of the falls over dinner. 

Day Six - Devil's Throat
Today we explore the Argentinean side of the Falls.  Here we will be able to walk on elevated boardwalks to the islands at the lip of Devil's Throat.   After lunch (included) we travel back to the airport to catch our flight to Salvador da Bahia, the city of churches (estimated at over 300). 

Day Seven  - Salvador
Salvador was Brazil's first capital and is rich in culture.   In the morning we will travel back through the centuries to return to the past of Bahia.  See the historic relics, the religious art and the "Pelourinho", the most important complex of colonial baroque architecture in Latin America.   After Lunch (included), its time to explore the natural beauty of Salvador in an afternoon panoramic tour.   See "Dique do Tororo", a mysterious lagoon created by the Dutch in the 17th Century, the church of "Bonfim", the most popular church in Bahia, "Mont Serrat",  the fortress, church, and lighthouse overlooking the sea, and the beach and church of "Boa Viagem". 

Day Eight - Islands of Bahia
Today the beautiful and mysterious islands of Bahia await you.  We will take an exciting schooner trip  to admire Salvador from the sea.  Discover the most marvelous places in the Bay of all Saints, "Bahia de Todos os Santos".

Day Nine - Free Time
After breakfast, the morning is free to do some last minute shopping or sightseeing in Salvador.   Roam the city of handicrafts and colonial architecture a final time before our evening flight back to the US.

Day Ten - Home
We arrive back in Miami in the early morning.   The Brazilian experience may be behind us, but we have a wealth of memories and insights to share with friends at home.
